About this Edition
The Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2024 took place from 8 - 11 April, uniting the international community of children’s literature professionals at Bologna Fiera. The fair, in conjunction with BolognaBookPlus and Bologna Licensing Trade Fair/Kids, offered a comprehensive platform for the exchange of publishing rights and copyrights in children's literature.
Last year's edition marked a significant milestone, celebrating sixty years of fostering connections among authors, illustrators, graphic designers, translators, literary agents, publishers, and booksellers from Italy and beyond. The event successfully returned to its pre-pandemic levels of participation, with expectations that the 2024 fair would host nearly 1500 exhibitors and 29,000 professional visitors from 90 countries.
At BCBF 2024, attendees were introduced to the latest innovations in children’s publishing. The fair featured over 300 events, including new exhibitions and initiatives. Exhibitors also organized additional events both on-site and throughout Bologna. Slovenia, as the Country Guest of Honour, enjoyed special attention, showcasing its unique contributions to the world of children's books.
