The preparations for the next Bologna Children’s Book Fair were underway. The 63rd edition of BCBF is scheduled to run from 13 to 16 April 2026. Featuring more than 500 networking and educational events at Bologna Fiera, it is expected to attract over 1,500 exhibiting companies and 33,000 professional visitors from around the globe.

Bologna Children’s Book Fair 2026 will unveil the latest trends in illustration and publishing for children and young adults. The trade fair will host several themed showcases, each assembling a devoted audience. The Illustrators Exhibition will present over 20,800 works by around 4,160 illustrators. As a homage to the 200th anniversary of Carlo Collodi’s birthday, the Italian Excellence exhibition will introduce 50 illustrations under the theme “Pinocchio’s New Clothes.” The BBPlus exhibition will highlight intriguing depictions of book covers of Agatha Christie’s criminal and mystery novels. A special display will be devoted to Norway, the Guest of Honour Country in 2026, enabling participants to get well acquainted with contemporary Norwegian illustration and book design successes.

Throughout the show, attendees can look forward to a plethora of meetings and opportunities during its four days. The event will brim with discussions, lectures, masterclasses, and award ceremonies. Among the prominent topics will be sustainability, reading promotion among children and young people, indigenous languages, transmediality, and licensing.
